The Urge to Wander

That is the charm of a map.  It represents the other side of the horizon where everything is possible.  It has the magic of anticipation without the toil and sweat of realization.  The greatest romance ever written pales before the possibilities of adventure that lie in the faint blue trails from sea to sea.  The perfect journey is never finished, the goal is always just across the next river, round the shoulder of the next mountain.  There is always one more track to follow, one more mirage to explore.  Achievement is the price which the wanderer pays for the right to venture.                -Rosita Forbes

There will always exist within me the urge to wander and experience something and somewhere new, regardless of where I find myself at any given time.

One month and counting…

How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.        -Annie Dillard

Only one month remains until we depart for Mexico City and begin traveling.  It’s an opportunity for me to take some time off, learn a new language, see the world and create a new life for myself.  Carlos is looking forward to returning to Mexico and once our travels are complete beginning his University studies.

Creating Our Itinerary

In preparation for our travels we’ve drafted a rough itinerary and timeline.  We’re planning to visit a total of 14 countries in one year’s time.

Included are Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay.  Check out our detailed itinerary here.
